Have you ever felt depressed when you have stress? Stress is invisible but it affects our daily life. Last week, I read an article “ New Studies Report Health Dangers of Emotional Turmoil”, and the author Daniel Goleman indicates the problems that people do not deal with stress. This article is impressive for me because in this article, stress does more harm than good. However, I think stress plays a positive and negative role in our life.

When I dwelt on this essay, I could not sleep at night and became worried. Next day, I felt very sleepy and did not want to go to school. In class when I was sleepy, my energy was drained out, so I missed important notes. Typically, when I have stress, I can not fall asleep. In the article “ Do You Need More Zzzs”, according to Melissa Abramovitz, “teens need seven to nine hours of sleep to function optimally” (Abramovitz). Also, I did not get enough sleep every night because of this essay, and I perceived the effects of lack of sleep on me, for example, I would be out of control of my emotion and became sick. Sometimes, when I had classes in the morning, I was very tired, so I had difficulty staying awake in class. When I was on the bus, I would sleep so that I missed the stop. As the deadline got closer, I was very thrilled because I did not have enough time to finish it. I got sleep deprivation due to stress. Sleep deprivation is an underlying question. While I did not get enough sleep chronically at night, even if I set the alarm, it would not wake me up, so I was always late for school. After school, I would rather go to sleep than finish this proposal. All in all, stress makes me crazy and hinders us from success. I had more inspiration because I had done this proposal in high school and memorized some facts I wrote. If I finished my essay on time, I would get a lot of feedback from peer review on how to revise my essay. For me, writing this essay was a little difficult, but this experience could train me to become more conscious on how to manage my time to do things before deadline. According to Ted Talk “ How to Make Stress Your Friend”, Kelly McGonigal says, “ When you view stress in a positive way, your body believes you, and your stress response become healthier” (McGonigal). This essay was not only a challenge but also a chance for me because when I submitted it on time, my teacher would realize whether I needed more time to improve my writing skills or not. This essay was the first draft and it might be imperfect. Although this essay was tough, I still trust myself that I could handle it. With stress, I can be resilient because I gain more motivation and hope from it. I have more energy and strength to handle this
