Stress is an unavoidable part of everyday life and a necessary survival skill for most humans. Without stress, we would not be able to accomplish goals, overcome obstacles, or live our lives to the fullest extent. Putting it simply, stress is the brain 's natural response to any demand. Some demands that one tells the body and brain to do can be too much to handle, in the end, causing stress that is not good for anyone. Dependent on the pressure of each demand, stress levels can reach different intensities that can either be beneficial or detrimental to one 's health. Everyone has different reactions to each demand and each individual has different methods of dealing with stress based on many factors that go along with a situation. Are you …show more content…
Each person 's response to a stressful situation differs, "Your emotional responses to a situation are determined by your appraisal of both the situation and your coping abilities, as well as your temperament" (Martin). Speaking strictly about emotional status, this variable can make or break your ability to handle a stressful predicament. There are many different coping techniques that are useful for people. While one may be able to get over something instantly, another may have a hard time dealing with the obstacle put in their path. Stress is different for everyone and time is part of dealing with stress for many. Along with emotional stability comes past experiences. Our history has a way of working into our present situations and problems. We have different reactions based on our background that we come from, "The genetic aspects and the influences of our past experiences, both during childhood and in adult life, are envisaged" (Baumann). Events that we have gone through in our past have the ability to trigger different emotions depending on the situation that presents itself in the future. Our past takes a toll on our future in the way that stress affects
