Stress coping strategies are important factors in determining stress outcomes. When a person is facing extreme stressful situation, it is likely the person will evaluate the stressful situation as according to Lazarus and Folkman (1984). The Transactional Model of Stress and Coping Theory is a framework which emphasises appraisal to evaluate the potential solutions and complication of an event, which could affect the process of coping with a particular situation (Lazaurus, 1966; Lazarus & Folkman, 1984). Primary appraisal relates the impacts of an implication to one’s personal goal (Lazarus and Folkman, 1984). The results can be categorized into three forms, which are irrelevant, where there is no implication on the well-being, positive, which is pleasurable outcome, and stressful, where the consequences is negative (Lazarus & Folkman, 1984). After assessing the impacts in primary appraisal, one will only proceed to the secondary appraisal if there is negative consequences, which will hamper his/her personal goal, identified. The secondary appraisal associates the occurrence of an event with one’s coping capacity (Lazarus and Folkman, 1984). If the feeling of inadequacy of an individual is high, the level of stress could be aggravated as the coping capacity is insufficient for the individual to overcome the complexity (Lazarus & Folkman, 1984). As mentioned in previous section, the presence of stress of teachers is certain.
