Usually Crohn’s aims towards the small intestine and the first section of the large intestine but any area within the GI tract is fair game. The answer as to how Crohn’s disease developed is undiscovered. Although, “Researchers believe the following…
Based on the information in chapter 3 I believe I have inconsistent symptoms of two interconnected digestive problems constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. Looking back at my families medical history I also noticed that my dad had stomach ulcers and my aunt also used to have gallstones. Furthermore, I think that my digestive problems are caused by unhealthy habits described in chapter 3 rather than serious health conditions accompanied by constant symptoms. In chapter 3 irritable bowl syndrome is indicated as one condition that can cause constipation. While on page 95 low fiber, lack of fluids, lack of exercise and stress are regarded as some of the causes of constipation sometimes falling under the umbrella of irritable bowl syndrome.…
Introduction: With a complex aetiopathogenesis, IBD has been a burden and rising worldwide. Inflammatory Bowel Disease refers to chronic and relapsing inflammatory disorders which two main different disease include Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. In 1932 by Drs Burrill Crohn, Gordon Oppenheimer, and Leon Ginzburg described as an idiopathic transmural chronic inflammatory disorder affecting the gastrointestinal tract. In 1875 by Drs Wilks and Moxon first described and identified UC (ulcerative colitis) as noninfectious cause[1]. Some of the suspected etiology including life style, immune factors, gut flora, environmental factors, and genetic variation are strongly believed to be key holder.…
The immune system is the system that protects the body against harmful bacteria, viruses, and other things that can make a person sick. The cause of increased activity of the immune system is not known. RISK FACTORS Having a family history of ulcerative colitis. Being of Jewish descent.…
When the immune system attempts to attack the bacteria or virus, an abnormal immune response causes the immune system to attack the cells within the digestive tract (Mayo Clinic Staff). On the other hand, it is believed to be hereditary because it is more common in people who have relatives with the disease, therefore genes could play a role in the causing the disease (Mayo Clinic Staff). Crohn’s Disease mainly affects the ileum and the colon, which are segments of the small and large intestine respectively. The symptoms of the disease can come either gradually or suddenly, in addition to this, there can be a period of time when the symptoms are not experienced known as remission (Mayo Clinic Staff). Some of these symptoms include diarrhea, fever, fatigue, abdominal pain, cramping, blood in your stool, mouth sores, reduced appetite, weight loss and perianal disease (Mayo Clinic Staff).…
This paper explores a case study about a patient namely Ms.V. She is a 35 year old underweight White American, who had recurrent respiratory infection, MsV has been admitted to the hospital Due to her symptoms; after a biopsy she has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. This paper Discusses the etiology as well as medications for low potassium, ulcerative colitis Also, Alternative medicine as well as patient’s education are included. (1) Imbalanced nutrition less than body requirement related to decreased absorption as evidenced by weight loss related to impaired absorption and diarrhea.…
Did you know Crohn’s Disease is one of the fastest growing intestinal disease in the US? My paper is going to be about Crohn’s disease. I chose this because over the past years I have had the time to really learn on my own what is like to live with someone who has Crohn’s. I will be going over some of the symptoms, treatments and other home remedies and facts about Crohn’s disease.…
Normal pathophysiology of gastric acid stimulation and production. Normally the stomach holds around 50cc of fluid. There are several stimuli that work together in the complex process of the digestion process (Huether & McCance, 2012). There are three phases of gastric secretion, first being the cephalic phase, which is stimulated by the thoughts , smells and taste of food.…
These ulcers will cause discomfort and ultimately lead to emptying the colon many times in a day.” (“Crohn 's & Colitis,” (n.d.). Ulcerative Colitis is a form of Irritable Bowel Disease; not to be confused with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The difference between the two being that IBD causes inflammation of the bowels and can lead to tiredness and rectal bleeding; whereas IBS does not cause inflammation, fatigue, or rectal bleeding. Ulcerative Colitis only affects the lining of the large intestine; unlike similar diseases such as Crohn’s disease, or irritable bowel syndrome that affects more than just the lining of the bowel.…
Crohn’s disease persists of the immune system mistakenly attacking healthy bacteria in the GI tract. The inflammation makes the intestine’s wall inflame causing irritation. Although the main cause of this disease is not known, many people speculate it is a hereditary disease. Some other professionals believe it is caused by the abnormal reactions by the immune system.…
The quality of gut flora impacts digestion, metabolism, and the immune system1. This is where probiotics become useful- the human microbiome is influenced by diet and environmental…
Crohn’s Disease was first described by Dr. Burrill B. Crohn in 1932 and is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract. “It causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition” (“Crohn’s Disease”). Crohn’s disease cannot only hurt and enervating, it can lead to life-threatening complications. Scientists have the belief that Crohn’s disease is caused by several factors. These factors would include immune system problems, genetics and environmental factors.…
However, it associates with environmental factors and genetic factors. Evidence has shown prevalence in lines of families. Research findings aiming to single out the cause of Crohn's disease have emerged with explanations on autoimmune reaction, environment, and genes as the likely factors. The infection occurs when an individual’s Immune system mistakenly attacks living cells in a person’s body.…
Many unknown answers at this point, but the potential and possibilities of the gut having such a tremendous role has open minds to scientists, nutritionist, psychiatrist and even the average…
During my dialysis experience I found it to be very informative and interesting. We were not allowed to touch the patients or help with any care but the staff was interactive and explained was they were doing. The staff also was able to provided scenarios of different complications that happened and how they 'd respond. By the end of the first day I was able to see what the caregiver would due if a patient had muscle cramps, was short of breath and had chest pain. The first day I mostly interacted with the staff and was able to see medical side of the whole procedure such as learning and seeing how to dispose of contaminated equipment and what machines were used.…
