How a person copes with stress varies from person to person. While some people may work out to relieve stress, another individual may choose to partake in alcohol consumption. There have been many studies to date that study whether or not higher stress leads to more alcohol consumption in adults. Through my review of many literary sources, I have found that there is indeed a connection between stress in adults and their alcohol consumption.
Alcohol consumption among adults has varying statistics base on gender, social class, previous addictions, family alcohol use, and so on. Since there are so many different factors that contribute to the research and results, there is still a need for more research to be done. It is imperative to do studies on just these groups in order to understand how stress and alcohol are truly related to each of these subgroups.
In most of research conducted there were large differences between males and females. Overall, it was observed that females feel like they experience more stress in their life. That stress came from a multitude of factors such as school, relationships, finances, money, etc. There are varying opinions on why women tend to experience more stress. Some researchers theorize that some people are just more prone to stress. While other researchers not that the difference may come from the biological aspect of how men and women cope with stress differently.
