To do this, the Nursing Center’s article (2007) has a few suggestions on how to reduce the risk of back injury. Firstly, bend at the knees not the back so that your back stays straight, always stretch before exercise and avoid lifting weights that are too heavy for you. The client may not have the sufficient knowledge to know the correct and efficient stretches that help to reduce the risk of injuries so therefore some methods on how to gain that knowledge is needed. The knowledge may be attained by a nurse or other health profession that knows about correct stretches or the nurses may be able to refer them to a personal trainer or stretching classes such as Yoga to help prevent injury. A personal trainer will help her with the correct techniques for her weights and other strenuous activities so that she is protecting her back and working the muscles at the same time. The trainer can also demonstrate accurate stretches required before and after her exercise so that the risk of reoccurring injuries is decreased. Another method of reducing the risk of injury is through Yoga or an activity similar. Research has shown that yoga is a good way to improve muscle strength, endurance, flexibility and balance (Bryan, Pinto and Parasher, 2012). Health promotion about alcohol consumption from a nurse would be a good start for the client as she may lack the knowledge to know how much sugar is in the alcohol she is drinking. In a 30ml glass of wine there is 135 calories (Levine, Bush, Magnusson, Cheng and Chen, 2013) and the client is having 2 a day. This could be a contributor to why the client is finding it hard to lose weight or why that is her goal. To help decrease the amount of alcohol the client drinks in a week, the nurse could recommend alcohol free days which involve the client having 2 or so days a week without drinking alcohol. This in time will reduce the amount of alcohol intake she has each week, month and year and also reduce the amount of calories she consumes in one day. The result will be an overall healthier body and also it may be easier and more efficient for her to lose weight which will contribute to her achieving one of her goals. At the beginning it may be difficult for her to give up the alcohol twice a week as she has got into a daily routine to have a glass of wine after work. However, the more alcohol free days she has, the easier it will get and this will be reinforced by her nurse, which will help benefit and motivate the client to keep up the alcohol free
