Girls showing their strengths Benjamin Franklin once said, ¨You can do anything you set your mind to.¨ Well in this case that is exactly what these three strong courageous women thought. One woman named Jen Welter wouldn´t let the fact that there has only ever been male football coaches drag her down. According to press, Welter will be helping coach the linebackers for the Cardinals. Jen will only be there for the first four preseason games but this marks another big barrier for women in sports. ¨It was not even a dream I think could be possible,¨ Welter said, ¨But now girls can grow up and have that dream come true.¨ Jen goes on to say that women have been given the message for too long that it is very important to be pretty. Welter´s accomplishments include: spending 14 years as a linebacker, won two gold medals with the American team at the International Federation of American´s Football women´s world championships, and played running back for the Revolution. Hammon will be the first ever with a coaching position in the NBA. She will be helping coach the San Antonio Spurs in the upcoming season. ¨I just think it is important for society that women be rewarded for their brains just as much as a guy,¨ Hammon told reporters. The article goes on to say that Hammon believes that when girls go to a job interview that they have the same opportunity as a guy would have. She has made opportunities for herself and for many other young women around the world. Hammon´s accomplishments include: she ranks seventh in the WNBA history in points (5,809), fourth in assists (1,867), sixth in games (445), and spent the last eight years with the San Antonio Spurs. This is just one of the many stories of vigorous women going for something people thought could never
