One of the essential functions of a social worker is case management. Case management is the process in which a social worker assesses a client, develops a plan, and advocates for services for their clients. Case management involves assessing clients and helping client’s access needed services. Case management is composed of networking with multiple organizations to provide more relevant services to the client. Case management can be implemented in a variety of practices: micro, mezzo and macro. Client level intervention is the course in which a social worker aids an individual with services.
2. Client level intervention involves direct communication with and coordination of service for a client. Beginning with an assessment with the client’s strength and limitations.

Two of the principles that I need to challenge myself to improve my case management skills are “Interventions are based on client self-determination” and “The community is viewed as an oasis of resources, not as an obstacle”. I have difficulties accepting “Interventions are based on client self-determination.” I believe I would have the most difficulties dealing with clients that are not willing to help themselves. For example, I believe it would be challenging to accept a client experiencing domestic violence to continue in that unhealthy relationship. In the end, I need to realize that every client has to right to make his or her own decision regardless of what it is. Another, principle that I need to challenge myself more to improve my case management skills is “the community is viewed as an oasis of resources, not as an obstacle. The reason I believe this would be a challenge is because I am unfamiliar with the resources out in the community. In order to better network with organizations and association, I need to be acquainted with the local community leaders and participate in events such as festival, where a large number of organization gather to inform the public about their
