Texting has become a part of how our generation is becoming more tech savvy. Texting is just one of the new technologies that has become a part of everyones daily routine. There are many “strengths and weaknesses” that come with texting all day everyday that lead to our written expressions. Every text message that is sent has impacted the “written expression” that people used to know when texting was not as popular as it is now. The strength that texting has brought to our minds is that text messages are short, sweet, and to the point. The weakness that has come from text messages is that there is no emotion in the text that people are forgetting to put into their writing. This helps peoples written expression when they are talking face to face. They talk quickly and effectively so they can get their point across as quickly as it takes them to say it. When teenagers want to set up a movie night at a friends house, they will go and start a group message with everyone who is invited. They mention the idea and see if the others are in. Then they start dividing out who 's bringing what. These messages are not just short, but they are concise and to the point to make sure the point is being crossed. When people want to text their friend to brighten their day, they will send a short and sweet message that is straight to the point. This helps their written expression too. They will not go off on a tangent and forget to mention what they wanted to say in the first place.. Texting helps keep people stay on the topic they are talking about. You can never tell if someone is being sarcastic or truthful with what you have sent them. People cant see the others eyes and facial expressions so it is hard to decipher what their response is. If they sent the other a joke and only got back a smiley face, then they start over thinking what that smily face meant. It could have meant that the joke was funny and they smiled, or they could have been being nice to not hurt the persons feelings if they didn 't think it was funny. The other person will overthink what they had received back from their joke and people will over think when talking to people face to face. Especially if their expression on their face is not what they were expecting from them. Texting has given people the ability to hide their emotions over the phone which helps people be able to hide their expressions while talking face to face with people too. This is not good for the written expression that is already messed up because of how people
