The Attachment Theory is how one is attracted to another human being and how one builds relationships with different people (Chisholm, 1996). It is said that how one acts and builds attachments to another in adult life can solely relate on how one’s mother treated one as a child. This will have a huge influence on a person’s behaviour and personality (Chisholm, 1996). A mother plays a very important role in every child’s life and if the mother shows signs of distance and insecurity then the child will suffer. For example children who suffered and were malnourished and didn’t receive love from their mothers had a greater chance of depression and emotional problems than those who didn’t experience this by having caring parents (Chisholm, 1996).
