After reading a few chapters of Strengths Quest, I was instructed to participate in the Strengths Finder assessment (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). This 30 minute assessment was an interesting tool that pointed out my greatest strengths. It also provided a detailed description of what having those strengths mean and examples of how they are prominent in a person 's life. After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five dominant strengths are empathy, harmony, consistency, relator, and restorative.…
The five greatest strengths shown to me by the Strengthsfinder Survey were Consistency, Belief, Responsibility, Developer, and Relator. I chose a life of Civil Service, in the Military and now as a Police Officer. Having Consistency and Responsibility I believe fit right into this life choice and in my opinion if you don't have Belief in what you're doing you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. I utilize Consistency on a daily basis as a Police Officer. I wholeheartedly believe each individual has the right to be treated fairly and on equal ground to anyone else regardless of social, economic or criminal justice standings.…
Hello Bo! I agree that leaders need to be aware of what areas need be recognized as strengths and areas that need improvement. That when it does come time for change, leaders may not know where to begin in regards to implementing the change process in their organization. Why do you feel that it is difficult for leaders to make staff aware of changes to ensure that the changes are implemented in a timely and appropriate manner? I feel at my organization, there are many changes coming for the company due to a merger with parent company with a well-known health care managed organization.…
One of the similarities based on my Strengths Insight assessment result between nursing and teaching are both require my empathetic personality. Being a nurse they need to be empathetic with their patients have the ability to understand the patient situation. Teacher develops empathy almost the same they must be empathic with their student to be able to know them more.…

The discovery or rediscovery of strengths and resources by individuals increases the likelihood that they will have a higher quality of life ultimately (Graybeal, Moore, & Cohen, 1995). The strengths assessment recognizes the existence of problems and obstacles, but the goal is to identify usable personal and environmental strengths that can be utilized to conquer these problems and focus on progressing activities, aspirations, and interests (Rapp & Goscha, 2012b). Often, an individual who seeks treatment confines their view of self to their pathology. In the case of the strengths based assessment, the individual is encouraged through a working relationship with the practitioner to paint a “holistic portrait” of the individual (Rapp & Goscha, 2012a). The outcome of the portrait is a process; a building of relationship between the practitioner and the individual that is grounded on empathy, understanding, and viewing each other as distinct individuals.…
In summary, the strengths perspective is a common approach used to help clients with problem-solving (Kim,2013). The strengths perspectives utilize a person’s talents,…
One skill I used often than others was the strengths-based approach. I wanted Liz to feel like she took the right first step. I specifically told her that it was great to have her in session to make her feel empowered and assured that we will work together to find solutions (0:20). I also used this skill after explaining that we were a generalist practice and despite being unable to diagnose illness, I was still going to do my best that I can to help (0:57). I felt she expressed a feeling of guilt when she clarified that she did not want to be stigmatized, I was able to remind her that we will find solutions and that I was a reliable person.…
I would say I rely on all three of these strengths every day and find myself using at least one of them in almost all situations I face. I think all three strengths are beneficial to my cognitive, behavioral and emotional health, but I would say my behavioral health is benefited more by kindness and generosity, my emotional health is benefited more by gratitude and my cognitive health is benefited more by humor and playfulness. Your Top Strength…
Gallup Strengths Finder This test provided valuable feedback. I really enjoy getting to know others, but I also had fun getting to know myself. I feel that this test explains much about me. Why I do what I do and how I do it.…
This semester, among other classes, I am taking a positive psychology course. Our first assignment in this course was to take the VIA Survey of Strengths on the University of Pennsylvania’s Authentic Happiness website. It is a 240 question survey that, when completed, assigns you your top five personal strengths. Before I took this survey I do not think that I was very aware of my own mental gifts. Likely because I did not think it would do me any good to recognize them.…
Although I had heard about career assessments, I never had the opportunity to take one myself. Therefore, I took great joy in experiencing these activities for the first time. Different career assessments such as the MYERS BRIGGS, True Colors, Values Game, Eureka as well as Strength Quest revealed unique qualities that I often times overlook in my persona. These different assessments contributed to a deeper understanding of my skills and personality. In what follows, I discuss my reactions to the different career assessments that were presented during our class.…
While studying my personality, I learned a lot about myself; tools that will help me while going forward in the future. While taking both the True Color and Strengths Quest, I found out what my main personality traits were. Now, I can focus on how to interact better with others and act more as a team player and use my strengths for the better good of the teams. First, the True Colors test determined that I was mainly a “gold” which tends to be one that is very orderly, prepared, follows all the rules, and tend to be serious.…
Zachery Roberson Virtues and Actions I participated in taking a survey created by the University of Pennsylvania to evaluate your personality on 24 different characteristics. The purpose of the questionnaire is to find which of the 24 character traits are your strengths. The survey is 240 questions long and is comprised of a series of statements, most of these statements ask how much you think the statement sounds like you, but several of them ask how other people see you. After taking the test, it listed several of my strongest character traits, the top 3 traits being perspective wisdom, self-control and self-regulation, and love of learning. When looking at the reading the description of what perspective wisdom is, I would say that it isn 't describing the correct attribute.…
