Strengthquest Reflection

Improved Essays
After taking the StrengthsQuest assessment test, I found out that my results are Futuristic Communication, Maximizer, Belief, and Strategic. I have taken this quiz a couple different times for previous classes and each time I had similar results. I am definitely the type of person that always believes everything happens for a reason. I believe my faith guides me in everything I do. Therefore, I tend to look at the future instead of the past because looking at the possibilities helps motivate me to be the best that I can be. In today’s world, communication in person has gone down but I would rather talk to a person face to face than on the phone. I strive to be the best that I can be; I do not care if that means I am first I just care

Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them. According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report.…

After reading a few chapters of Strengths Quest, I was instructed to participate in the Strengths Finder assessment (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). This 30 minute assessment was an interesting tool that pointed out my greatest strengths. It also provided a detailed description of what having those strengths mean and examples of how they are prominent in a person 's life. After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five dominant strengths are empathy, harmony, consistency, relator, and restorative.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

The novel, Kindred, exposed me to the un- taught lifestyles of the southern people during slavery. It left me with questions, jaw dropping moments, and surprises, but yet not, of the life styles that were practiced during the 1800s that today we might see in different forms. One event that troubled me the most was reenactment of the slave market. Kevin and Dana were walking away from the Weylin’s home and slave quarters to talk in private when they saw slave children reenacting a slave market. Then Dana said, “Even the games they play are preparing them for their future.”…

Concealed Strengths Which Show Case the Obvious Rich Eisenauer, my former Sunday School teacher of two years, is my adult fan. For the past few years, Mr. E has been much more of a Sunday School teacher to me; he has been a mentor and father figure who has helped me overcome some of my biggest challenged. He is someone who I have talked to about almost everything, and as a result, acquired a profound understanding of my character. When prompted with the task to meet with an adult who knows me well and understands the way I think, I immediately knew that Mr. E was the best person to help me with the interview. This year he is working as the Resident Counselor of Sylvester, so on Thursday morning I went to his apartment and we had an…

Many people come into college feeling unprepared, nervous, and unconfident, and while being convinced that I was indeed prepared, I couldn’t help but feel some of these stressful emotions. Over the past month and a half, I have adapted to my new environment that is Pacific Lutheran University (PLU), and feel much more sure of myself as I continue through this semester. I have learned about what skills and mindsets can lead to a successful college experience, such as hope, grit, and resilience. I have also been able to reflect on myself as a person, and identify strengths, values, and abilities I possess that I can use to my advantage. Finally, I have learned about different resources I have surrounding me, and different aspects of PLU that…

Zachery Roberson Virtues and Actions I participated in taking a survey created by the University of Pennsylvania to evaluate your personality on 24 different characteristics. The purpose of the questionnaire is to find which of the 24 character traits are your strengths. The survey is 240 questions long and is comprised of a series of statements, most of these statements ask how much you think the statement sounds like you, but several of them ask how other people see you. After taking the test, it listed several of my strongest character traits, the top 3 traits being perspective wisdom, self-control and self-regulation, and love of learning. When looking at the reading the description of what perspective wisdom is, I would say that it isn 't describing the correct attribute.…

Introduction Have you ever wondered what your greatest strengths were and how you could use those to help you advance in your career? Many people probably think they have certain personality strengths until they take an assessment to see what they actually are. I recently took a personality assessment utilizing the DISC method of scoring to see what my more dominant personality traits were. The results came back a little different than what I thought of myself at first but the more I pondered on it, the more it made sense. My three most dominant personality traits are Conscientious, Dominant and Steadiness.…

The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
