Strength Of Writing

Writing has been a part of my life for a long time. Growing up through elementary school writing short fiction stories to writing biographies in junior high to research papers and essays in high school. I haven’t ever really sat down to think about how far I have come as a writer, but when I finally did I realized the mountains I’ve climbed from starting out as a writer in my childhood. A lot of people overlook the importance of basic writing skills, myself included, but writing is the foundation from which the way express yourself, speak to others stems from.
To me good writing isn’t 100% based on punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Although they are very important to a good paper they aren’t as important to me as a strong voice. If I am reading

I have a terrible habit of making a run on sentence, and not catching, or catching it and not knowing how to fix it. My other weakness in writing would be not knowing when to use a comma before, and or just leaving the and by itself. If I can sit back, and go over the basics on those two skills I feel that It could greatly improve my grades on my papers, and would also highlight the voice, and personality I put into my papers a little bit better. I found a website online called http://paperrater.com, and after playing around with it for a little bit I think it can help me better understand how to manipulate my sentences to avoid run on sentences, so from now on I will most likely run most of my papers through this site to get a second opinion before submitting …show more content…
By that I mean writing a way that nobody else does. Having a style like how grandma’s brownies taste better than the store bought ones. You can’t quite put a finger on exactly what is different about it, but you know it’s not the same old generic paper everyone else writes. My expectations for this class is to give my full attention to the teacher, and my work so that once I am all said and done I can look back and say I actually took something away from this class. Instead of just showing up for the grade I want to walk into class ready to learn something and retain the information. The only think I hope to get from my teacher in this class is to make me think. Sometimes when I ask a teacher a question instead of giving me ideas they tell me to put down what they would say. I don’t want to know their exact words on the subject then turn around and put them straight into my assignment. I just want them to give me food for thought that I can process in my own head and figure out how I want to work it into my piece. I don’t need somebody to walk me through the class step by step. I need somebody to give me the tools to make it through on my own. It’s like the old saying, if you catch a man a fish he will eat for a night. If you teach

Through the following three essays, “Why I Write,” by George Orwell, “Why I Write,” by Joan Didion, and “A Way of Writing,” by William Stafford, a reader can interpret the importance of writing in daily lives. The three authors discuss the significance of writing and it has impacted their personal lives. I was most compelled by Joan Didion’s “Why I Write” because of its ability to encourage everyone to develop an interest in he topic.…

1.9 Explain proofreading techniques for business communications I will explain proofreading techniques of texts, emails, spreadsheets, and all presentations for business communications. Proofreading is to business communication what buffing and polishing is to woodworking: One little blemish detracts from the entire piece, causing the overall impression to suffer. Mistakes and imperfections in any kind of work convey carelessness, and in the workplace, the stakes are even higher. A piece that is ridden with spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors is difficult to read and undermines the credibility and authority you probably have worked hard to achieve.…

Over the course of the semester, I had to think of my paper’s strengths and flaws in order to improve my writing. Thanks to the class’s simple system of peer reviewing, I was able to get feedback on my original simplest flaws: run-on sentences and grammar. After realizing the standard writing software reviewing tools was not going to help fix this, I started looking online for better writing tools. Among them, I found two in particular that helped significantly: “Grammarly” and “PaperRater.com.” These tools helped me avoid overlooking grammar errors, and shorten sentence length.…

Writing is a process of our everyday’s life. We use it to express ourselves, study, mail and so much more. I think that aside from writing changes us constantly, I think it can also change others who read your ideas and stories. It was cool to see how the students in the movie, “The freedom writers”, changes their behavior as they write their diary. I think that writing can give you an insight of where you are in life and what is really going on on your everyday basis.…

Writing: Escape, Comfort, and Uniqueness Throughout the entirety of my high school career, writing, both for academic and personal reasons, has fabricated my individualism, distinctively segregating me from the rest of my peers. Being heavily involved in numerous clubs and organizations (having the presidential office in the majority) and holding academics on the highest pedestal, I utilize writing to further advance my involvement in the community. Being a writer has not only created an atmosphere in which my feelings are at a constant equilibrium, but it also influences the choices pursued by others affected by it. Additionally, writing for my personal benefit by creating numerous stories have continuously aided my advancements. Such emotions have affected my life as an academic student, a charismatic community leader, and personal relationship problems – which all ultimately had a positive impact on my writing.…

I have always considered my relationship with writing to be very insignificant. Although I enjoy spending time verbally expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, it becomes difficult when these thoughts and feelings are expressed through writing. Throughout my adolescent years, I would often receive feedback for my writing given by the teacher in the form of a grade. Being unable to effectively organize my thoughts and ideas into words and sentences, I would feel reluctant to continue writing confidently whenever I received an undesirable grade.…

Every writer has strengths and weaknesses that make their writing uniquely their own. The strengths are points of pride, the weaknesses are constantly worked on to slowly strengthen and reinforce them to make the writing even better. I believe that my greatest strengths as a writer are my ability to follow through with my thesis and organize my writing in a logical way that improves readability; my biggest weaknesses as a writer are proofreading and planning in advance. As with most things, my strengths and weaknesses fluctuate with every piece of writing—they are not all equal for many reasons—but this class has made a major impact on the way I approach writing.…
