According to the sad person chart Juan is experiencing high amounts of depression. He scored seven points which encourages me to hospitalize the him even if it is involuntary. The way I concluded the sum of points was by the chart. Juan is male which makes it a higher risk that resulted in one point. His age falls between 18 years and 55 years that also makes him a higher risk, and another point was added. In the first sentence it states that he is depressed adding another point. Although, he has thought about attempting suicide, he has no pervious attempts so no point added. It was also reported that he sits around all day drinks, and smokes pot with his friends so a point was added. Rational thinking is fine he is not hallucination, and …show more content…
Juan has made a organized plan on how he would like to commit sucide. He stated he would just drive a care off the bridge and another point is added. He also has no partner, and that can add more to his depression so that adds another point. Lastly, Juan does not have any sickness regarding cancer, aids, and other deadly sickness so no point will be added. I would also agree that he should be hospitalized on these terms, until we can find a way to narrow his depression, but he is at a high risk. Using ecological framework I pulled three main principles that I felt was important to discuss that is happening with Juan. Interaction focuses on how you are dealing with daily things like school, work, family, and much more. Juan is dealing with not going to college, and he is not taking it well. Since he did not go to college like his parents wished for him to do. He often looks down on himself because he was seen as not smart enough. Also he did not play sports well enough to get him into college. That ties into his interaction with his family because they are conflicting each other. He is dealing with his parents constantly looking down on him for not finding a job, moving out, going to …show more content…
Juan falls under later adolescence which age range is 18-24. It’s psychosocial crisis is individual identity vs. identity confusion. At the moment Juan is defining who he is and what he wants to do with his life. Juan has identified himself as a adult with no job, no support system, no higher education, and has given up. Now his identity confusion is that he has no direction of defining the new him. He is not prepared for the stages of adulthood in terms of roles. I believe the best bet for him is to set up goals of what he wants to be. Is getting a job, moving out, and maybe going back to school something that he wants for his identity. As for Marcia’s work on identity status which are broken down into four categories that are identity achievement, foreclosure, identity diffusion, and moratorium. Out of these four categories I believe that Juan falls into moratorium. That being said people who fall into the moratorium endure high amounts of anxiety during identity crisis, and has not made any choices along the lines of values and career paths. Although, moratorium people do not avoid the issue they have come across, instead they think about it constantly, and are controlled by their feeling about what choices they should choose. Why I felt that Juan fell into this category was because unlike identity diffusion Juan is not trying to run away from his problems. He is well aware

The stage of adolescence is categorized by being 12 to 18 years old and psychosocial maturity the individual exemplifies. A developmental delay that is evidenced by the inability of an individual’s needs to be met can be identified by using Erikson’s stages of development (Groark, McCall, McCarthy, Eichner, & Gee, 2013). For the adolescent stage the task requires children to find their own personal identity separate from their peers and parents. This achievement of identity will lead to increased independence from parental control and more time interacting with peers. Unfortunately if the child cannot accomplish the task of forming self- identty this leads to confusion in life roles.…

I should keep in the forefront of my understandings that growth and change of self-representation take place throughout the lifespan, in addition to noticing that adolescents makes impressive strides towards developing the essential core of who they will become as an adult (p. 303). It would serve me well to understand Marcia’s 4 identity status categories and be able to share them with Dean and his supports (p. 303). With this, I believe I would assess Dean’s situation as falling within the moratorium status category in which he is undergoing exploration and the anxiety and exhilaration that accompanies active experimentation (p. 304). Although I do assess Dean as approaching foreclosure in which a conferred identity is present rather than a constructed one, as he seems to have subject himself to his father’s desires rather than fully exploring all the options available to him (p. 304). For the most part, I assess Dean’s situation as relatively common for that of youth.…
