Strengths
The sport I have chosen is football. One of my main strengths (components of fitness) in football is my speed. The definition of speed is the ability to move quickly across the ground or moving limbs rapidly to grab or throw. In football, you use your speed for e.g;

When you’re attacking and you are dribbling past a defender, you can use bursts of speed to blow past him. This means I get closer to the goal and have a better chance of scoring for me and my team.
Also, when the opposition team is on the counter attack, speed is key in order to sprint back into your position and defend. This means my team would have less of a chance of conceding, as there are more defenders back to protect the goal.

Agility is the ability to change directions quickly and easily. It is important for me as a Left Back as I need to tightly mark my player who is trying to lose me as his defender, and for making late sharp runs into the penalty box to try and score. I know this is a weakness of mine because when I'm in a match situation I sometimes struggle to follow my opponents run, meaning I have to rely on my pace to recover and tackle him. This affected me because all the running I did to recover, meant I used stamina I could have used to get up the pitch.

I feel my agility is not good enough because I haven't focused thoroughly on agility when I am in training. Also I am quite tall and broad meaning I don't have as low of a center of gravity compared to many small wingers/fullbacks. This means I cannot change direction as sharply as I have a larger step pattern than smaller players.

If my agility is poor, then my opponent in football could easily drift by me and be through on goal. This means that our entire team could be a goal down in the match and maybe go on to lose the match. I could improve my agility through performing a short training circuit consisting of shuttle runs and ladder runs and hurdle exercises. If I was to increase my agility it would make me more of a complete defender and I’d be a lot harder to come up
