Basketball is a high intensity sport that involves a player to have the speed and agility to get up and down the court as fast and as agile as possible. Strength and conditioning is a major key in the game of basketball. Strength and conditioning is the physical and physiological development of athletes for elite sport performance. Strength and conditioning also help athletes with injury prevention and proper mechanics within their sports performances. The two components that Donte is focusing on improving fall under the category of strength and conditioning, they are; speed and agility. Speed is the rate at which someone or something moves or operates. And agility is to have the ability to move quickly, easily and agile. Basketball players deals with their ability to read and react. By following through with a power training program, he will be able to achieve his goals without incorporating any other aspect of training methods. Power training has the ability to improve your speed dramatically and advance your jumping ability vividly. One good power exercise to do is: Vertical Jump: Full Squat Starting Position. The speed of movement and power outputs would be low in this example, but RFD and explosive strength could be high if the effort is maximal. An increase in either distance or speed of movement will increase power. Endurance training is beneficial for basketball and as well as Donte. Endurance training could possibly help Donte with losing a bit of body mass that makes him fit and more agile. However, he doesn’t want to lose all of the weight that he has been working so hard to gain. Therefore, power training will cater to all of Donte’s requirements and without making him lose any
