Ignorance when looked up in the dictionary means,” a lack of knowledge or information”. When said on the street Ignorance is a sophisticated version of calling someone stupid, which means “lack of intelligence or common sense”. When used in an African American household this same word means you are retarded, which means “less advance in mental, physical, and social development”. The word ignorance has many meanings, and in specific moments in time ignorance is called for to make statements or to be heard, but being ignorant or acting ignorant in shows nothing more than childish behavior and a lack of maturity and growth.

For example, using ignorant as a way of being stupid Rosa parks could be considered ignorant for not moving on the bus, but if she had moved and been submissive to what the white man's rules were, segregation could possibly still be alive today. Many white supremacist called MLK ignorant because of his fight for justice and equality for African americans, but if MLK would have stopped speaking out and trying to fight for justice, the race war we were in could still be flourishing today.
