Street drugs have always held poor connotations. Anyone who related with them would be immediately recognized as an addict or criminal. That is until opioids and prescription painkillers came around, when your white suburban mom could be just as dependent on a high as your average heroin junkie. I believe if opioids are continually available, other drugs should be legalized, focusing mainly on marijuana.
Opioids: legal, completely accessible, and easily prescribed. It is truly the choice gateway drug. Though it is just as harmful as heroin, it’s only viewed as a problem when someone becomes addicted. In this case, why shouldn’t other drugs be legalized and treated the same way? I can’t see the government deciding to criminalize opiates,
