Strawberry DNA Extraction Protocol I chose the option 1 for my Journal entry for this week, after reflecting on the two options. I think this is easier, fun, and interesting. I am a visual person and I prefer to do things on my own. I love doing science experiments since I was in grade school. I am always exciting and eager to know the results and conclusion of the experiment. Additionally, it is different if you are doing the experiment hands-on and seeing the actual clumping of the DNA. The nice thing about it now is I am doing the experiment at home and in my own kitchen, using simple items. My experiment was a success for a first timer and I got amazing results.

As a result, all the non-genetic evidence presented in this case can only be connected if I know the type of plant inside the ancient pot. However, the three plant’s external structure is similar in appearance, therefore it would impossible to give a definite answer to the type of daisy inside the ancient pot. As a consequence, I will not have enough sufficient evidence to find Mr. Anderson…

1-a. Share the learning outcome(s) you either wrote or revised using the steps outlined in the module. One of the course objectives I used to use for Music Cultures World was “Students will be able to identify and discuss the differences and similarities among musical performances from a variety of cultural contexts.” After taking the ACUE 1A module, I decided to revise the course outcome as follows: 1) Students will be able to illustrate the connection between music and dance in African music by producing a 5-minute flash mob. 2) Students will be able to demonstrate the application of a number notation system by creating a 5-minute gamelan performance.…

My observation will be on the behavior of kids interacting with other kids at the Boone’s playground. I will observe kids around 1pm on Monday. My hypothesis of my observation is that 65% of girls will interact with each other in the playground while only 35% of boys will interact at the Boone’s playground. I came up with this hypothesis because girls usually just sit around and just talk at the playground more than boys and the boys play sports than the girls. I chose this particular setting because of it is was my elementary/middle school and there are a lot of children so it is easier to observe them.…

After watching all of the available videos for the Field Experience Summary, I chose High School Biology, Part 2 as my favorite video. I selected this video because the teacher displays great knowledge of her students, she has provided wonderful materials for her activity, and she has the standards and objectives clearly stated on the whiteboard. In addition to the reasons previously stated, I chose this video because she covered a topic in my subject area. What initially intrigued me to watch the High School Biology, Part 2 video, is that I knew I might gain some insight into what I will be teaching in three short years. At the beginning of the video, it shows the teacher walking over to a male student and talking briefly with him before…

In the beginning of this semester, I remember what a nervous wreck I was and how much pressure was put on me. Attending my second semester at UNC Charlotte on academic probation was not my first intention whenever I moved to the city of Charlotte and made the new commitment of attending a four year university. Whenever I was told that I needed to attend a class two times a week so I wouldn’t be kicked out of school, I felt nothing but shame and frustration. I was certain whenever I mentioned to my parents and my girlfriend that I was on academic probation, they would be ashamed of me.…

I would continue to do Science Olympiad if I had to pick only one. Reason being is because of my passion for STEM and being able to compete with students that share the same interest. My favorite thing about Science Olympiad is the variety of competitions they hold and to see the result of your effort by being awarded with medals. Especially the tension of waiting for your events to be called and the countdown of each medalist ranking. Overall, the suspense, the excitement and my love for science and math is what attracts me to this activity the most.…
