The post baby boomer population is less and they are the one who use health care services the most. It is estimated from the research of 2005 that there will a shortage of 10000-12000 nurses which would require doubling the number of nursing graduates available at that time (Harris, Zwar, Walker and Knight, 2011, p.194).It indicates that in the next few years, it is predicted that there is a dreed shortage of young skilled nurses. According to recent research the registered nurse workforce is going to reach the peak age over the coming decades (Preston 2009, p. 28). The projected age distribution for 2011 and 2021 in Australia suggests that a lower proportion of nurses will be there in work force for ages in between 30-40 but higher proportion for nurses with age more than 45(Simoens , Villeneuve and Hurst,2005).
