Strategic planning is crucial for the survival of any organization. It is a guidance for the organization to accomplish their missions and goals (SWOT Analysis, 2009). Through strategic planning, organization can allocate its resources to capitalize on opportunities and neutralize threats in the marketplace (Tanner & Raymond, 2012). More importantly, strategic planning helps organization develops a full awareness of all factors involved in a decision (Falcon, 2017). To create a strategic planning, the organization utilizes SWOT analysis to collect and assess information the external and the internal environments. More specifically, it assesses the four elements of the setting in which the company operates. The first two elements in strategic …show more content…
Strengths for UMUC include multiple campuses worldwide. UMUC has campuses in Asia, Europe, and North America. Through a large network of campuses, UMUC is able to offer services to students across the world. Moreover, UMUC network of campuses provide opportunity to become more diverse such as student population, ethnicity, and culture. Through maximizing the information technology (IT), UMUC is able to offer many services such as online classrooms, tutoring, and resources such as books and lectures electronically to students at no costs. Altogether, online classrooms and campuses across the world provide UMUC the ability to extend their education programs and remain the leading provider of education services to the U.S military (University of Maryland, University College, 2015). In addition, UMUC provides education to students at an affordable price, when comparing to other universities. When comparing to other universities, UMUC has a large network of campuses around the world with a large network of mentors for students.
