Communication is a very intricate part of a successful strategic plan. Relating to the board of directors, medical staff, frontline employees and the community about the strategic plan and how it relates to the mission and vision of the organization is an important aspect of the strategic planning process. During this process, of the strategic planning, the strengths and weakness analysis, and the objectives of the organization are evaluated. The following avenues can be used to communicate the strategic planning process to frontline employees, medical staff, board of directors and the community. Since the primary goal for health care strategic plans is advancing the health and well-being of those they serve, the involvement of the medical staff as the principal providers of that care is critical to ensuring that the plan is well-focused, practical, and will achieve the desired results. O’dell . The strategic plan can be communicated to the medical staff through discussion groups and one-on-one interviews. This is an old form of communication but very effective. Bulletin boards and wall posts in physician’s lounge is a great way to communicate to others. The organization’s intranet pages is a great place to create engagement with relevant information, create event announcements, write news stories, and provide updates. Physicians bring to the process technical expertise on development in the art and science of medicine, and how these can be adapted to the needs of the hospital strategic planning. It is through their training and socialization that they are considered to be a source of critical strategy information since they control resources needed for the execution of strategic plans. Community engagement has taken on a new dimension with hospitals forming strategic partnerships with a broad spectrum of local organizations, from churches to schools. The strategic planning process is part of evaluating the patient population and looking at the outside world and saying 'Where do we fit in this world and how do we want to relate.
