Samsung ‘s value chain and IFE For this assignment I have chosen to analyze international electronic company SAMSUNG. Since its establishment in Korea in 1969, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has grown to be a global technology leader. It produces and sells a wide range of semiconductors, electronic products, and communication devices. By the end of 2007, the company owns a total of 107
subsidiaries spread in North America, Europe, China, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Central and South
America, CIS, the Middle East and Africa of production subsidiaries. This includes sales, research, and distribution subsidiaries in addition to 8
 overseas business divisions. The company’s business areas are around four areas: Telecommunication Networks, Digital Media, , Semiconductor, …show more content…
This gives Samsung products an advantage over apples, its major competitor.
• According to it’s website annual reports, Samsung ranks first in market share in TV and mobile phones sales and some hardware parts (processors, memory chips, etc.). This result was achieved due to its excellent engineering and production .
• Focus on environment: Samsung emphases on creating environment friendly products. It also develops various successful recycling programs this concentration on environment gives it an advantage over its competitors.
• Largest share in mobile phones and 2 place in smartphones sales in the world.
Weaknesses:
• Patent infringement breaking Apple’s and some other firms’ patents damages its reputation and forces Samsung to pay a huge amount of money to compensations.
• Lack its own OS and software and relies on Google software. Having its own Software and OS production can lead to having high profit margin and increases combination of company’s products and brand
