Research shows that less than 10 percent of managers actually display proper strategic skills, which is a very small number when we consider the mandates placed on businesses today. Strategic skills are necessary in all aspects of business when thinking in terms of growth. When times are difficult, funds are stretched, it is imperative that leaders guarantee that company resources are utilized in the correct capacities.

When it comes to non-profit organizations, this is a challenge that many of them cannot afford. These organizations often do not have the financial means to employ outside consultants to assist in forecasting. Nowadays there are numerous helpers that can assist smaller businesses and also support groups that will support the cost of help these organizations to develop their strategies. Nevertheless, it is imperative to safeguard that the execution of a strategic management method is consistent with the requirements of the business.
According to Beatty, K. (2010), “like any process or tool, there are both advantages and disadvantages to a strategic management process.
