fatality or serious injury”, (Blake, et.al, 2013). In the city of Memphis, the goal is to implement a
strategic communication plan to avoid such tragedies in our communities. Effective
communication and strategic planning can help our team and the communities we serve through
developing proactive plans to avoid reactive planning. By analyzing the current situational
analysis from Memphis thru city surveys, media coverage, and city reviews will help better
understand the main problems that plague Memphis.

Monitoring public surveillance cameras is one way to combat the growing crime rates of Memphis. In many areas, of Memphis the inoperable surveillance cameras does more harm than help. For this goal to be a success, reviewing the city budget,and cutting back from certain areas that is striving will allow the money needed to keep public surveillance cameras up. Secondly, having community sponsored events within the community will show criminals that the neighborhood cares,so taking this approach will discourage the criminal from wanting to target that particular neighborhood to commit a crime in. This goal in general, is in support of the neighborhood. So it will be pleasing,to have a few city leaders participate in neighborhood events;which in turn woll show that our city leaders can lead by example. Thirdly, securing well paying jobs for ex offenders,will help them remain crime free once they are back in the community. Working with local companies that will hire felons and allowing the offenders to take job readiness classes so they can gain the valuable skills needed to maintain a steady job. Placing them in classes after being in prison would be percect for this. “Using in-person structured interviews with residents, we examined whether victims’ decisions to report to police were related to individuals’ perceptions about police effectiveness or police legitimacy.” (Kohel,et,al.,2013). In Memphis, the lack of police dispatchers does not allow calls to be answered and responded to in a timely manner. To improve this,reviewing the budget of the police deapartment and allocating a certain amount towards the dispatchers will help. Identifying failing schools is the last goal of this communication plan. Sitting down with school leaders and reviewing the academic plan set in place by the schools will allow areas that needs to be revised.
