Community Access Imaging Grant: A Progress Report for Quinnipiac University and the Seedlings Foundation
Community Access Imaging is a free clinic operating in conjunction with Quinnipiac University, the Seedlings Foundation and community health care partners. The clinic is currently funded for three years. Annual clinical progression reports will determine if endowment renewal will be awarded and continuation of the program. This clinic provides highly supervised, specialized diagnostic imaging exams to uninsured individuals of the surrounding communities. The clinic promotes the health and wellbeing of our community through disease prevention, continuity of care and active follow-up diagnostic imaging exams. Community Access Imaging not only benefits members of the community but students as well. Students have the opportunity to integrate acquired classroom knowledge with clinical practice.
IMPACT
To date the Community Access Imaging team has provided diagnostic imaging exams to approximately 790 patients at an estimated cost value of $510,800 (conservatively estimated at the discount rate). For the specification of estimated cost per exam performed by the clinic, see Appendix 2. It is important to note that the value of these services in human terms is ‘priceless’, as the team has diagnosed potentially serious conditions such as cerebral aneurysm; skeletal/neurological malformations and tumors.
