We are all born with an alter ego. Many times we see that people in stories have such different personalities. Let’s face it we all know how to be well behaved and we all know how to act on impulse and do things that are completely out of this world. In my case I can be very quiet but when I go out and have a couple of drinks, I am very talkative and can act on impulse. With the two stories “Strangers on a Train” and “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” all the characters have an alter ego but together they complete each other. In “Strangers on a Train” and “The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” there are four main characters; the characters are doubled in which one is good and one is evil. Both men are very intelligent and they just want to move up the ladder of success. They have many friends and get along with just about everybody; nobody looks at them as if they do not belong. As for Hyde and Bruno they are a completely different story, they do not fit into society’s norms and act in way that are not socially acceptable. When we hear of Bruno and Hyde, it’s hard for them to be explained the way they look is just questionable. Jekyll needs Hyde to survive and the way Bruno is portrayed throughout the book he needs Guy to survive. Bruno says “I admire people who do things” and this giving us the feel as to why he may be so attached to Guy, Guy is a man who has a nice job and a great fiancé. Jekyll for a while does not want to see anybody because he is worried people will learn the truth about Hyde. Guy also doesn’t want anybody to know about what him and Bruno have done, so that he lies to the police about how long he’s known Bruno and where they met. He wants Bruno to stay away, but he keeps coming back – to one point even saying that he would tell the police what they both
