Even though the segregation laws promised to have services and facilities be “separate but equal” (which was anything but), blacks in general were still at a disadvantage in almost all areas of daily life and I find it appalling that blacks were denied the same economic, educational, political, and career opportunities only because their skin was a darker tone than their white counterparts. People should not be judged for their outward appearance but rather for their character and moral standards but it is a shame that America at the time was so adamant on oppressing the black man from becoming successful in life only because of the color of their skin. The racial profiling and discrimination should not have lasted this long and the African-American community should not have had to suffer by the hands of white America at all.
