Math has always come fairly easily to me, starting when I took Algebra 1 as a seventh grader. I’ve excelled many years, even going into my school’s math and science program where the students are given honors math and science classes from ninth grade through twelfth grade. I’ve always been a step ahead in math so that is how I was able to enroll in calculus last year. Everyone else in my class was going to take BC Calculus so I thought I should too, I could handle it if they could.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

This past summer I took an algebra class at STC that really boosted my academically confidence. I had gotten quite a few B’s in my last classes and just decided to switch that around and get an A in algebra. I have always liked algebra, but I was never too sure as if I was good enough to get such a high grade. I had an epiphany where I thought about my future. I thought about how if I wanted to succeed, I needed to try harder and push myself.…

I take the crisp white paper and I walk out of the classroom, homework and lemon yellow notes binder in hand. Later that night, I begin the homework.…

My childhood memories regarding learning mathematics has been for the most part positive from 6th grade onwards. From 1st grade to 5th grade I was not conscientious so at times math tests produced anxiety but math was, at the same time, easier and simpler back then. I recall being the fastest person to state the multiplication tables in 4th grade. During 6th to 8th grade, although I was not necessarily the smartest, I landed at the top of the class in advance math since I was very hard working. However in 9th grade I recalled a horrific incident.…

Not the best salary even after going through many years of schooling, wasting money out of your own pocket to buy school supplies, very long work days, often targeted for the education of the country, demanding parents, and difficult students. So why is that teachers want to teach? I would say the number one reason why teachers want to teach is probably being able to teach students to expand their knowledge and watching them grow is a very honorable feeling for a teacher. As a child it was my dream to be a firefighter but found out that it was not a career for me after seeing some horrific scenes on a ride along with a local fire station. So that’s why I decided to pursuit teaching.…
