When the council told Keesh he was just a child and could not speak at council, he proved to them that he could hunt the bear and that he was a better hunter then the other men. He was smart enough to come up with an invention to easily kill the bear without really getting in harms way. Pi was stranded, starving, thirsty and was with a vicious tiger. Although Pi had lost all hope he still looked for food and water. Once he finds food and water he knows that he has to tame Richard Parker, in order for both of them to stay alive. In the adapted film Life of Pi directed by Ang Lee and written by Yann Martel, the book is clearly better than the movie. This is almost always the case with book to film adaptations. The story takes place for the most part on a life boat in the Pacific Ocean with a young boy named Piscine Molitor Patel, also known as “Pi” and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. To the movie’s credit such a book as Life of Pi is certainly hard to modify to the big screen in 120 minutes or less considering all the colorful characters and themes that are painted in the novel.…

Both Mccandless and Treadwell were successful in being unsuccessful. With many obstacles, lessons learned, and opinions of others, both young men led a life of pure adventure.…

Often when you have a particular outlook to challenges, and approach problems with a certain personality, your outcome reflects your outlook. In the short story, “The Skeleton Key” by George G. Toudouze, the Narrator’s determination, logicalness, and positivity all contribute to why the he survived the attack. To begin, the Narrator has a good sense of determination. On page 163 it states, “ The pay was high, so in order to reach the sum I had set out to save before I married, I volunteered for service in the new light.” This quote shows that the author is determined.…

Perception is a critical idea for many works including, “How to Be Stupid: The Teachings of Channel One” by Mark Crispin Miller and “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer. Both works idealize either a product or an experience that outsiders are captivated by. In Miller’s “How to Be Stupid,” he exposes Channel One for all the manipulative tactics used to sell a product to its viewers. While Krakauer’s “Into the Wild” is a retelling of the story of a man named Chris McCandless that goes on a voyage to existentially discover himself and his meaning for living. McCandless had a difficult childhood, and had an outlook on life that many would not even fathom.…

I support Jon Krakauer because he experienced deaths and suffered but he made it to the summit and went back down. He made it to Camp 4 but the others weren’t there yet one of them made it to camp 4 and stayed with Krakauer. Although he had doubts of Everest he wanted to make it to the summit but people from his group died on Everest, he wished he never climbed Everest. Jon wrote an article of Mount Everest and his experience there. He cared for his group but he worried about himself mostly, I think he was a hero but he did what he needed to do for the group even when he didn’t have oxygen.…
