Story Of Dick Horatio Alger Analysis

Just like any other writer, Horatio Alger published a lot of stories with moral lessons in them. Among the books that he wrote, most were about someone who was once a poor person but later on in his life, became a prosperous man. Needless to say, Horatio wrote to inspire. His works are nothing short than an inspiration to the readers that anyone can break through in life and be whomever he or she wants to be, as long as they are of good character.

Apparently, there were seasons when there was too much work, and one would easily find employment, and there were others when one would hardly find any. The author is quick to note that there was so much less work that employers were laying off their employees meaning that Dick’s dream of owning a counting room were most likely not to come true. This part of the story shows that even if Dick had wished to have his counting room, he probably would have had no clients. It may seem coincidental that at around the same time, a boy falls off the boat.
