Storm watched the Manly ferry cut through the still harbor waters. The boat glided past the restaurant where gas burners on poles glowed over the heads of diners who were making the best of eating outdoors under small umbrellas that barely sheltered them from a drizzle that never stopped falling. The ancient wooden vessel picked up speed as it passed the composite steps leading up to the pointy white shells of Sydney Opera House.
“Did you have other girlfriends while I was in Sydney?”
He turned to see her lying on her stomach on top of the king bed. She smiled, making seductive eyes at him, then stretched out her hand, beckoning to him.
“What?”
“I asked, did you have other girlfriends while I was away from Coona?”
He turned back to the window. “Of course not.”
