It was a dark and stormy night. The rain came down in torrents, soaking me to the skin. Standing alone, silent, enveloped by the black of night. With haste, I looked for shelter as I tucked myself under a large, decrepit oak tree, sitting with my frosty hands clenched tight, held close to my body trying to keep warm. Pondering upon my dilemma, I wondered whether to stay under the tree, or go to the nearest building and shelter under it. The storm ended up deciding for me as the distant thunder echoed like a cannon. I packed my stuff and dashed onto the road, trying to avoid the piercing raindrops. I could see a shadowy outline of a building, but the rain hindered my vision making it blurry. My legs shook and raindrops dripped down the sides …show more content…
“Yeah I’m fine I guess… And you are?” replying with hesitation.

“My name is Leigh-Anne, my son SJ goes to school with you,” Leigh-Anne replies.

“Where am I?” I asked with a puzzled look on my face.

“We found you laying on the ground unconscious and decided to take you home with us,” she replies with a worried tone.

“Thanks.” I said faintly

“Alright… We’ll be upstairs if you need us.” she says with a smile

I smiled back, looking at her going up the stairs before the darkness engulfed her. I sat up on the couch and rest my hands on my lap and glimpsed into the luminous room. Dully glowing in the midst of the room was a painting dangling on the wall, I stood up, escorting myself across the room, it glistened in my eyes like a diamond, I gently stroked the canvas with my fingers, thoughts flooded my head, as I thought of all the benefits I could gain if I were to sell it. I surveyed the rugged edges of the oil paint and the ridges formed by the brushstrokes. This was clearly an original, and that meant it was valuable. I placed my hands on the back of the painting, lifted it off its hinges, tucked it into my arm and faintly walked out the door into the life I had just been rescued

If this one painting didn’t teach me and prepare for animation and story writing, I’m not sure what will. When I talk to people about the painting, they are amazed that I picked a small, overlooked part in a story and make something great out of it, and to keep going with it. I have about twenty movie concepts, four movie shorts, and nine storylines all based from details. I have never been more proud of myself for finishing anything, and I’m unsure if I will ever be able to sell it to anyone. I just know that you can learn so much about someone just by small details, and I want to tell people that the little things do matter, big as the Roman numerals on Queen Elizabeth Tower, or as small as this twelve point, double spaced, Palatino style…
