As You Can’t Stop the Beat was being created, there were many thoughts developed as to how it would be written. When I thought about the tone, I realized that I wanted the audience to be able to trust me, without being too skeptical of my topic. Once people against my topic realize what it actually is, they would want to stop reading it as soon as possible. So I tried to get my point across without being too informative but still trying to teach people about the topic. The reasoning behind my position of the music program was because I wanted to assure people that this does happen in our world today and that it’s a serious issue. Also in my writing, I felt it was necessary to address the fact that not just one child is impacted by the budget cut, it’s all of them. Whether these kids played …show more content…
Throughout the piece I made an effort to incorporate as many rhetorical devices as I could. The first example is the first sentence of the argument being a tri colon. I decided to choose this device in particular because of the fact that it interests an audience right away, and then also sparks curiosity about the topic. In the second paragraph, I chose to use an epistrophe by repeating “because of music” at the end of three sentences. My reasoning behind this is that I truly wanted the audience to grasp the concept of how powerful music is to children. By using this method of repetition it constantly reminds the reader of the main idea. After that I used another repetitive method by using an anaphora at the end of the first paragraph on page 2. Similar to the epistrophe I needed to have the audience understand my point of view on this situation. In my opinion this device was one of the most effective. In many parts of the paper I executed one of my main goals, which is to appeal to my readers emotionally.
