My realization materialized when Professor Jovanovic discussed her daily routine and how much she accomplished in a day, which subsequently made me realize I need to start implementing some of these strategies. My A-Ha moment happened due in part to meeting Professor Jovanovic for the first time. My first impression of her was “wow this women is confident, unapologetic and takes no crap from anyone”. After my initial impression of her bold personality, I was overcome with jealousy. I thought to myself “why can't I be that confident in myself”. Hearing a bit more of her life I saw similarities between us, and I thought if she could be that confident and self motivated so could I. I had forgotten about my initial feelings towards Professor Jovanovic, until I read her daily routine in her book and something in my head clicked. She gets up, works out, prepares food, and cleans her house, all before I’ve even gotten out of bed most days. I realized that I kept telling myself I want to be a successful and confident person. However, I was not putting any of those thoughts into action. I heard a quote once that has really stuck with me— “dreams do not work unless you do”. I’m not entirely sure where or who I heard it from, but after reading how Professor Jovanovic spends her day, I was reminded that I have been making too many excuses in my life.
