When thinking about daily life it doesn’t seem to occur to us that everything we do is, in multiple ways, influenced by our ever present government. Every morning each and every one of us wake up and get ready. What do we do then? Go to work? School? Drive. That is what we do. Has it ever spring to your attention that each car is basically manufactured based on government regulations? Whether it’s the Cadillac converter or the airbags equipped in each and every car. Also the black and white speed limit signs we hunt for when visiting a new place? Thinking about it or not, a lot of our everyday lives are in some shape or form directly impacted by government regulations and laws. However many may say it is …show more content…
Our main stakeholder. Some may not realize just how much power this single person can have even though they can declare war on other countries, veto laws that congress passes and the right to make striking workers go back to work simply by asking a judge for an injunction. Those examples are simply the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how much the president can do with frankly little to no work. However the matter of us “common folk” getting to vote on who we want to be president doesn’t always end the way we want it too, naturally due to people changing and lying about what they say they are going to do when they are running. However thinking about campaigns there is also the fact that it takes a lot of money to do so, especially for presidential campaign. So the question is why do we let money dictate what we think our country should be? Even the least materialistic people will vote for the person who spent the most money even if they don’t realize it. An article from OpenSecrets.org tells us this in a single statement, “[...]the candidate with the most money going into Election Day emerged victorious in nearly every contest”(Communications). With a single quote as that it is nearly impossible to underestimate what our true intentions are even without thinking about it. Our main goal is to put people who have money at the top even though we shun them for that very thing. In our minds people with money also have power even though they make bad …show more content…
They may be second but at least they get payed to argue about things us the people will be impacted by. Regardless of the fact that sometimes we have a say on what the “things” are, we still have little to no say in what actually happens after it gets there. For example Flynn states this simply “Congress no longer represents the will of the people, and it hasn 't for a very long time” (Flynn) as any reasonable person can clearly see many off the decisions they make in highly beneficial to themselves and not us. However some may still stick up for them even when simply looking at the fact that they set their own pay is a huge factor that can not be overlooked. Also once again a very materialistic instinct happens at this stage of government also, seeing as Flynn said,”It 's not surprising that running for Congress has become a multimillion-dollar fundraising challenge in many districts around the country. And, it is also not surprising that many members become millionaires once they leave Congress -- if they are the rare ones who weren 't rich to begin with” (Flynn). When first reading that statement a person of any state should get furious naturally because there are people starving on the streets that have no home but our congressmen and women are raising money essentially for themselves. However when they first start to campaign they are doing it to get the people’s approval and to be a “representative” of the
