I was immensely impressed with ‘Lemminkäinen Suite, Op. 22’ by Jean Sibelius, as it was fully able to exclaim the story of Lemminkäinen throughout his journey and struggles. It began with the exchange of the woodwind instruments to the brass instruments playing the same rhyme. Then it advanced as the melody piled together with moods of various eagerness until it reached the ending of pure elation. This could be attributed to the sudden dynamic changes, as there were many occurrences of subitos. It was obvious with the entrances of the percussion and the brass instruments. In addition, the ending put me on the edge of the seat with the tempo changes from allegro towards presto. This was especially noticeable when the percussion player was at his loudest as the rest of the band played through the increased tempo. This separated it from the other movements, as the whole orchestra played with such dramatics. Overall, it gave the sense of the battle to finally go
