Stolen Trailer: A Case Study

On July 1, 2016, at approximately 2:.37 PM I, Deputy Ragsdale, was dispatched to 172 County Road 1460, Quitman, Texas in reference to a stolen trailer.
Upon my arrival, I spoke with the complainant Tracy Compton. Tracy Compton advised me that he and his family are moving out of their residence. Tracy Compton said when he arrived at his residence he observed his twelve foot utility trailer missing from his property. Tracy Compton then advised that there were multiple items stolen from his building next to the residence. Tracy Compton did advised me that he does know that a three way ball hitch and two other ball hitches was taken from inside his building. Tracy Compton said that he would make a list of those stolen items and bring it to the Sheriff Office. He then informed me that his trailer was a

Tracy Compton then told me that the gate to trailer has a wench attached to it with a two inch strap to lower and raise the gate. Tracy Compton father Jimmie Compton told that there is a lock on this locked near the tail gate. Jimmie Compton said that he believes that his Texas driver license 06062726 is imprinted somewhere on the tongue of the trailer. Tracy Compton told me that there is not a serial number on the trailer and that he does not know the license plate number. Tracy Compton said that there are multiple tools inside that trailer. Tracy Compton advised me that the value of the trailer is approximately $3,397.00 dollars. Tracy Compton did tell that there is a Dewalt power washer, two STIHL chainsaws one with an eighteen inch blade and one with a twenty four inch blade inside his trailer. The total amount stolen is approximately $5,476.00 dollars. Tracy Compton stated that this incident occurred in between Monday June 27, 2016 and July 1, 2016.
