A limiting reactant is any reactant that is used up first in a chemical reaction and it determines the amount of product that can be formed. The excess reagent is the product that you have too much of and doesn't get used up completely. To find the limiting reagent first you have to calculate the amount of product that can be formed by each reactant. If 1.0 mol of “A” reacts with 2.0 mol of “B” given that the reaction is 2A + 3B --> A2B3. You have to set up two Stoichiometry problems making them equal to moles of the products. Stoichiometry is portion chemistry dealing with numerical relationships in chemical reactions calculation of quantities of a substance involved in chemical equations.
