In this very extreme case of kidnapping sexual and physical abuse I truly do believe that Hearst could have been brainwashed by the SLA. Though this case is so unique and complex that it is difficult to compare to other cases and people. With the uniqueness of this case in mind I very much understand how such brutal abuse could lead to brainwashing and cause Stockholm syndrome. Prosecutors brought a very good point to the court in saying that it was interesting and odd that Hearst when arrested listed her occupation as "urban guerilla". I think that this was odd because even in a safe location away from the SLA she still acted as if she was part of the SLA.
