These are your core players and will always give you a ton of points and a great return on investment like a Blue-chip stock. For example, Tom Brady is a blue chip stock because he like a Fortune-500 company in that he is of the best in the league and so you never want to trade away Tom Brady. Alongside this, there are players that you may want to either pick up and add to your roster for a week to see how they do, or players already on your team that you want to trade.
