Stock Market Entry Essay

My investing goal was to buy a Jeep for a cross country road trip. For this i’ll need $21,000. My strategy to meet my goal is reading news and articles upon stocks on MarketWatch News and picking stocks that are priced in between their 52 week high and low when I purchase them. This is because it has significant room to increase more from when I first bought it therefore I’ll get a bigger gain when I sell the stock. However I did not use this strategy right off the bat, I played around with the stock market game first till I fully understood it. Soon I took off with that strategy. I bought a very diverse collection of stocks, with no particular background needed for the stock. I would check Google finance and purchase stocks from the well doing sectors of the economy. One thing was my discovery of the satisfaction of doing well with money. At first I wasn’t doing so good, but as soon as I figured it out and my rank in the game started going up. Then I gained a couple hundred. I placed 10th in rank which made me incredibly satisfied. Doing well among my classmates boosted my confidence with money, although I know I still have much to learn. Another thing I learned was going into Stocks requires an immense amount of time, patience, and reading graphs. Props to people who buy and sell stocks because it takes true devotion if you want a good outcome. At the end of the day I couldn't devote my time to stocks. I discovered I don't really like using my time managing stocks. Nevertheless I hope one day I can put all the devotion of managing stocks, and more to a job I love. My experience with this game has shown me I probably won't be investing in stocks in the future. However I am glad I got to experience and learn from this

Although there is much more to learn about this market, the introduction and hands on experience in options has lead me to research more on the riskiness of securities. There is also a large cost on the daily reading of securities on the market including the brokerage commission and cost per trade. I must become used to being more passive with the use of a portfolio and not using feelings to consider trading. Taking time to research each company you are investing in is extremely important when creating a diversified…
