My sentence for Steve would be community service, probation ,and home confinement. In the state of Ohio a third degree felony is punishable with a 1-5 year prison term and the maximum fine is $10,000. However, considering that Steve has no criminal record he would not get as harsh as a sentence if he did have a criminal record. I would give Steve more of a stern sentence because hazing seems to be a big issue on the campus. If complete leniency is given other people might continue to haze because they are not really getting punished.…

Recently there was a mass shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida were 17 people were killed and about 15 were wounded during the act. This terrorist act was done by a former student, Nikolas Cruz, who was even expelled a year before and had been under FBI watch (Pruet, 2018). With this sort of action it would have been best to give him the death penalty rather than only convicting him of a first degree murder and possibly ignore a death penalty because he was a someone with a troubled past. Cruz killed 17 innocent teenagers then attempted to flee from the police. Rather than being sent to prison for life, he might be excused from that and face less if he decides to plead guilty (Anderson, 2018).…

In the film Dead Man Walking they describe the death penalty as a normal punishment. The townspeople were so used to having that punishment that when it came to it they would say it would give them happiness, or make them feel better after the criminal was dead. In my opinion, I could see how it would make them feel better, because to be honest if it was my child that man raped and killed I would kill them with my own hands. But what I don't understand is why give them the freedom of being free after they die? I would want him to stay in that prison for life and have him suffer for what he has done.…
In the book Monster written by Walter Dean Meyer, Steve Harmon, a 16 year old black boy, is by going a trial determining if he will spend his life in jail or not. Steve’s outcome of the trial was not guilty with which many would most likely not agree with. In what was supposed to be just a robbery turned into the murdering of Nesbitt, the murder with which Steve was allegedly the look out for the whole thing. Most believe he is guilty, but not on the account of murder just on the robbery. He knew all along that the robbery was going to happen and he could have done something to prevent it from even happening.…
