Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz, Classical, Rock, Country, Blues; these are few of the genres which have made it into today’s music culture because of their impact on society. In our advanced age, we are constantly bombarded with music everywhere we go, whether it be during our shopping trips, on our bus rides, or even on our elevator ride to work. Many would agree that music is undeniably a big part of our lives; it has influenced society for decades. Others may give more acclaim to the artists behind the songs and not the songs themselves arguing that without the imagination of the creator there would be no influential creation. According to a web page, thesmiths-onian , Steven Patrick Morrissey was born in 1959, in Lancashire, England, son of parents Peter and Elizabeth. At the age of eight Steven became very detached due to family problems stating that problems lie those “tends to orchestrate your life.”(thesmiths-onian). Moreover, he also developed an affection with death and suicide at age eight and according to Steven, was convinced suicide was a “...credible, rather than cowardly, option...” that he would have chosen had it not been for the Pop music of the time which he felt the person singing understood him and his problems.(thesmiths-onian). According to Steven, it was this feeling of congruence that “saved” him (thesmiths-onian). As a teenager, he began was introduced to the world of writing when he wrote a book for The New York Dolls (Rolling Stone). He also organized a fan club for The New York Dolls, placing his own ads on the back of music weeklies to seek other fans while keeping updates of the band’s activities
