However, I do not agree that using Photoshop in photographs is unethical. First of all, no matter using Photoshop or not, a photograph could create deceptive visions by using different lens, different exposing time and different aperture settings. Even a different angle or point of view of a same object could create totally different feelings. And even being at the place with yourself, and seeing things with your own eyes could be deceiving. The concept of perception is interesting to me because of the fact that it is not always right, even though the process that goes into what we are perceiving is very systematic. It happens the same way every time; we are stimulated by stimuli which then activates the action potential in our brain (Goldstein, p. 50, 2011) And all digital cameras have programs built inside of it that transfers raw color signals into vivid picture with filters, which is already some photograph editing …show more content…
I would like to compare this with ladies using makeups. I believe this is the pursuing of aesthetics rather than deceiving. Just like Picasso and his abstract paintings, none of them look real, but it is the perfect figure in his mind to express whatever he wanted to express. A photographer wanted to exhibit a perfect photo in his mind, thus he edited it to become perfect. Also a lady would properly dress up and put on makeups before going out to work.This is not only for a better look, but also are good manners that showing respect to others.
