With Steve, from various sources and readings, he was egotistical, uncompromising, and held his employees to such a lofty standard. While having the social and emotional intelligence necessary to empathize and connect on a personal level with his employees, Jobs lacked the traditional boundaries for personal space and proper etiquette for communication. For starters, in the building where he worked, his office was situated in the middle of the work floor; this we learned from the book, The Steve Jobs Way. By strategically situating his office in the middle of the floor, he was able to closely monitor the work of those around him. It was not uncommon for Jobs to pop up at your desk or office to question the work that was being done. He was so personable yet outlandish with his approach. He was comfortable enough in his skin as a CEO to keep the contact with his employees on a first name basis but was never unafraid to call anyone out. He frequently ranted, threatened and made embarrassing outbursts against his employees and rivals. But this all stemmed from his burning passion and desire, not from some angry place
