Steve Jobs: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

To be a great leader is something many people aspire to achieve. Throughout history there have been great leaders that have will be remembered for their accomplishments. From Adolf Hitler to Martin Luther King Jr. both men will be remembered forever for their achievements ,good or bad. A great leader doesn’t have to demand respect, it is just given to him. Steve Jobs is a well respected man for his many achievements including founding the greatly successful company, Apple. If Steve Jobs were to walk into a room full of people today, he would have instantly gained the respect of every single person in the room. In order for a person to effectively lead a team or group he must first gain the respect of everyone on the team or group. Martin Luther King was the leader of the greatest civil rights movement ever. MLK led several marches on from Selma to Montgomery, all of which were met with great opposition from white police forces. To keep going back and attempt the march again and again required much patience on the part of Dr. King. This is a big part of what made MLK such a great leader. Every time they tried to march they were beaten and severely injured. Instead of losing his temper and fighting violence with violence, MLK kept calm and patient which ultimately led to the success of his movement. If a leader did not have patience he would lose control of organization very quickly. The march on Selma was not the first campaign or movement that MLK had attempted. His ultimate goal and reason for doing these things was to have peace and equality between blacks and whites. He never actually saw this happen in his entire lifetime but yet he remained patient and kept going with his various marches, movements and boycotts.
