Steve Jobs Argumentative Essay

Steve Jobs’ speech “You’ve got to find what you love’ Jobs says” was addressed to Stanford’s class of 2005. Jobs did not have any difficulty convincing the audience they should do what they love. He connects with the audience on a personal level. In his speech he tells three personal stories that the audience can connect with emotionally, and he gives the students motivation. In Steve Jobs’ first story called “connecting the dots”. At the beginning when he says that he dropped out of college there was not too many people that doubt him because of how successful he is. Many people believe him because they would never think he would lie. When he said “I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford” he connected with the students because they are all college students. In this story, he talks about starting his own company. His loss was getting fired from his own creation. This kept people focused and interested. In this article he shows that even though he was fired he still loved what he did and was going to do everything he could to do it again. This encouraged students to stay positive and always keep trying. Lastly he encourages students to never lose faith and always do what they love. In his last story he referred to it as “death”. Jobs restates the purpose of his speech that is “if you live each day as if it was your last, some day you’ll most certainly be right” Jobs said “I was diagnosed with cancer” that created empathy with the audience. He is credible because it is his personal story. Jobs encourages students to do what they want and to always follow their heart and intuition.
This speech was motivational and inspiring. He said stories that college students can relate to. He is credible because of where he has worked and how successful he has become. Overall this was a very strong
