This is not only another mention of death, but Hooper’s actions are both bizarre and suspicious at the end of the service. Hooper had bent over the corpse to say one last goodbye, and one attendee had claimed to witness the corpse shudder at the sight of his face under the veil (). Following this, the funeral prayer was a dark prayer, speaking of being prepared for death, however Hooper still manages to mention the prospect of “celestial hopes” that follow death. Cesar Chavez is able to express his opinions in his speech, “What the Future Holds for Farmworkers and Hispanics,” with the use of different techniques. The central idea he states in his speech is “All my life, I have been driven by one dream, one goal, one vision: to overthrow a farm labor system in this nation which treats farm workers as if they were not important human beings.” . Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that “Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” In Cesar Chavez’s speech, he had the daunting task of simultaneously writing a eulogy in remembrance and love of Dr. King’s immensely influential life, and the job of delivering their shared message of promoting nonviolent action to oppose discrimination. Both Dr. King and Chavez had spent their lives fighting racial inequality, and both brought about major changes for Americans (and the world) due to their efforts. Given that 9/11 was a very disturbing time for the nation, Bush provides assurance that America’s future is strong, and nothing can disrupt this power. Bush attempts to inform people in various countries that the potential of the United States is not affected after such devastating events by means of figurative language, metonymy, and repetition devices. Bill Clinton If I were to talk to Bill Clinton I would ask him what his thoughts are now, in retrospect, on lying to the American people about his relationship with the young aid Monica Lewinski, what advice he could give to President Donald Trump, and what his thoughts are on his wife losing the election. I think these are all really raw and juicy topics to talk to Bill about especially at a time when the nation is in such mental despair. The long term effects look quite different from those of the Watergate, the scandal crisis of 25 years ago which enhanced the reputation of the press and shifted the power balance between Congress and the president. What president Clinton did was inexcusable and lowered the expectations that American people had of their president and Congress.…
I’ve never been able to decline help to someone in need. I always put everyone else's needs before my own because when I sacrifice myself in order to put a smile on someone else’s face it gives me peace. Contributing to a cause to make the world a better place is worth the sleepless nights. When one is passionate about helping people it won’t matter to them how long they have to go without food or how tired they will feel at the end of the day. Just this week, I’ve had several occasions where I gladly gave up my time to do people favors or help someone in need.…
