Steve Cutt's Portrayal Of The Sad Truth

We as a society have become so dependent on our phones that without it we begin to feel lost and weak as if it’s a drug. Steve Cutt does a great job of depicting the true meaning of our society through these images or as he calls them the “sad truth“. The imagine that has caught my attention was the one that looked like the zombie apocalypse has taken over, except the zombies were actually us humans and our food supply are our phones (technology). My reaction to this image consisted of agreement and worry that we might actually be in big trouble if we continue to live a life where technology is our most important need rather than being happy with what we have. One reason is that we as consumers are being greedy by wanting the latest gadgets without realizing how this will later affect our future and how we live. Second reason is as we neglect the simple things in life I believe we become ignorant of feelings and emotions. As consumerism becomes a big part of our society, the people in it fall hard for all these brands. The more each company makes off us the larger the completion rises between these companies. Their promotions begin to adjust their products for our personal wants which leaves everyone trying to buy them even if they aren’t able to afford. This causes us to appreciate the wrong things in life which leads to us being insensitive towards everything. Our need of all these technological items leaves us in a world of more complication and stressfulness because of our carelessness of reality. We much more rather live the moment through our phones or laptops. We are so involved in our phones that sometimes we fail to notice the changes of our world right in front of our eyes. Escaping our everyday life, and using our phones to live our life through the internet. Overtime we have become obsessed with technology that we can’t even go a day without it.
